• CLK350 — 2006 to 2009 (3.5L V6)
• CLK500 — 2004 to 2009 (5.0L V8 through 2006, 5.5L V8 from 2007)
• CLK63 AMG — 2007 to 2009 (6.2L V8)

One important exclusion: this is a W209 part. It does not fit the earlier W208 CLK (1997–2003). If your car is a CLK430 or CLK55 AMG, you have a W208 and need a different pump — get in touch and we'll tell you whether we can source one.

How to tell it's the pump

Sound without motion is the clearest sign — the pump spins up but the roof either doesn't move or crawls through its travel. A weakening pump often behaves differently with temperature: fine on a warm afternoon, refusing on a cold morning. It will also frequently complete one cycle then refuse a second until it's rested.

If the roof isn't moving and you hear nothing at all, check the switch, the relay and the microswitches before condemning the hydraulics.

Before you order

The CLK roof also relies on lift cylinders and a front lock latch. If you're seeing hydraulic fluid staining in the rear quarter, or the top sits unevenly on one side, you may have a leaking cylinder rather than — or as well as — a tired pump. A new pump won't fix a leaking cylinder, so it's worth confirming which you're dealing with first.
